Opening up horizons and getting to know cultures and providing help. These are the objectives of World Robes.
Fashion speaks an international language. The way people dress says a great deal about themselves: about their customs, needs, and also their desire to express their individuality or affinity with others.
German Agro Action is using this communications aspect. In our competition fashion students are called upon to respectfully engage with the cultures of countries in the South. And in doing so, they learn about their riches: the different fabrics - soft flowing silk, durable wool, printed cotton, the artisan's skills and the people's traditions.
The models created in this way combine European tailoring techniques with the fabrics and patterns of other cultures. They are presented at a big fashion show. German Agro Action uses the revenue to support development projects in their partner countries. The competition is being continued.
